Q. How do we get started?
A. Give us a call and let us know what newspapers you are interested in or what areas of the state you would like to reach. We will provide you with a fast, free quote, including the names of the papers, publication days, deadlines and rates.
Q. How much does your service cost?
A. There is no fee for SCNN's services. You pay only for the advertising you buy. As part of an agreement with our member newspapers, we receive a small commission from them for the advertising we place. The rates we use are ratecard rates. Rates are not marked up.
Q. As an agency, can we still get our 15% commission from the papers?
A. Yes, if we place your advertising at the national, commissionable rate. We pass the 15% discount along to you, provided you are a bonafide advertising agency.
Q. Can I still get contract rates and repeat discounts?
A. Absolutely! We provide to you the same contract rates and discounts you would get if you went to the newspapers yourself.
Q. Am I limited to only placing in certain newspapers based on region or group?
A. No. We can place your display ad or inserts in as few or as many newspapers as you choose.
Q. What type of advertising do you place?
A. We place ROP display ads, newspaper preprints, online advertising and classified display ads. We cannot place classified line ads in individual newspapers. Display ads must be at least 5 column inches in size.
Q. What are your payment terms?
A. Credit can be established by completing our simple credit application and upon approval by our credit department. Payment is due within 30 days from the date on which we invoice you. We also accept prepayment by check. Credit cards are not accepted.
Q. What are your deadlines?
A. Deadlines vary for each individual newspaper. Generally, for the daily papers, deadlines are 3 days prior to the run date, and the weekly papers typically deadline the Friday prior to publication.
Q. How do I get the ad copy to the newspapers?
A. We will be glad to e-mail your ad to the newspapers or provide you with the addresses to e-mail the ad yourself. For e-mailing purposes, we require the ad to be sent to us as a PDF file. We also accept ad slicks. Since most papers prefer ads to be sent electronically, we will scan your ad slick in as a PDF and e-mail it for you. We have a few papers that still cannot accept ads electronically. In that case, we can mail the ads free of charge. If we are near deadline and must ship the copy via overnight delivery, those charges will be applied to your invoice. Preprints must be delivered directly to the newspapers.
Q. I want to advertise in other states. Can you help me?
A. Yes, SCNN is a member of AdNet America and can place your ad in most other states.
Q. Will you provide proof that my ads or inserts have run?
A. A tearsheet for each run date of a display schedule will accompany your invoice. An affadavit will be provided for all insert or pre-print schedules. Additionally, we pull tearsheets at our office. In many cases, this allows us to spot any errors in schedule before the order is completed. Troubleshooting is another significant benefit of our service!
